Privacy Policy

This page describes what Hold You To It does with information about you when you visit this site and join the waitlist. It covers this waitlist page only — it is not the regulamin that will govern a signed commitment contract, which is a separate document linked from the footer.

Cookies

This site's public pages — including this page, the interim terms page, and the page a warning or decision email's link opens — set no cookie of any kind, and store nothing in your browser's local storage or session storage. Nothing about visiting any of those pages is remembered across page loads by anything running on your device.

Signing in sets exactly one cookie, and it does only one thing: it keeps you signed in between visits. It contains no tracking identifier and is never used to measure or personalize anything — it exists solely so the site recognises you on your next visit without asking you to sign in again. This is what is called a strictly necessary cookie, and a strictly necessary cookie needs no consent banner under EU law: it is why this site has no cookie banner anywhere, and there will not be one unless a non-essential cookie is ever added — which would also mean asking your permission first.

What we record about your visit

When you load this page, we record a small number of anonymous measurement events (for example, that the page loaded, or that you scrolled to a particular point). To tell repeat visits within the same day apart from a fresh one without using a cookie, we compute a pseudonymous identifier from a truncated version of your network address — the last part of the address is discarded before we ever see it — your browser's user agent string, and a random value that is generated fresh every day. That daily random value is discarded and regenerated the next day, so the identifier itself cannot be used to recognise the same visitor across two different days. We never store your full, untruncated network address.

What we record when you join the waitlist

If you submit the email form, we store the email address you typed, the time you submitted it, and the fact that submitting the form was itself your agreement to hear from us. There is no pre-ticked box and nothing is selected on your behalf: the form has one field, and the only way to join the list is to type your address and send it. We also store a one-way hash of your network address and of your browser's user agent, never either value itself. This is a separate record from any account you might later create — joining the waitlist does not create an account, and the consent you give here is never treated as consent for anything beyond receiving the launch email and, if applicable, a small number of related messages described below.

How long we keep this

The anonymous visit-measurement events described above are kept for no longer than 13 months from when they were recorded, after which they are automatically deleted.

We keep your email address for no longer than 24 months from the day you give it to us. Before those 24 months are up we will either ask you to confirm you still want to hear from us, or delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time, and we will.

Unsubscribing

Every confirmation email we send includes a working link to stop receiving further messages. That link works for as long as we hold your email address — the full retention period described above — and following it removes you from the waitlist immediately.

Who processes this information

We use a small number of third-party services to run this site and to send you email. Every one of them is based, and processes data, inside the European Economic Area — we do not use any processor located outside it.

Contact

If you have a question about this policy, or you want your email address deleted sooner than the horizon described above, you can reach us using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, or through the contact details on the interim terms page.
